Ladies 2nd XI

The Ladies 2nd XI have played in the Women’s National Reserve League since the League’s inception in 2005, after moving up from the West District Leagues.  This competitive league pits our girls against some of the most experienced players in Scottish hockey, including several ex-internationalists (and even the odd Olympic medal holder!). Last year, the Ladies 2nd XI finished 3rd in the “B” league.

The Ladies 2nd XI is home to many players who are fighting for a place in the 1st XI, as well as some experienced players who have stepped down from the top flight, but want to continue playing a decent standard of hockey. Players must be at least 14 years old to play in the Reserve League.

This year, the team is being captained by Jen Morgan, who has been a Kelburne player since the age of 8. Jen represented Scotland as an Under-16 and has made several appearances in the Ladies 1st XI. Jen is also heavily involved with coaching the South West District girls’ teams and supports junior development within the club. This makes Jen the ideal candidate for leading our younger players through the transition from West District hockey to the National League.

The Ladies 2nd XI have won silverware in the past. In 1997, they lifted the District Plate, and in 2006, they went one step further, becoming the first Kelburne Ladies team to lift the District Cup.
