The Kelburne Hockey website has been built on the Google Sites platform; a very user-friendly, powerful system that allows people with a wide range of I.T. skills, from beginner to advanced, to contribute. If you've been set up as a contributor to the website, photo section or blog then follow these instructions. For security reasons login details are not listed below. You will need to contact an existing contributor to obtain a username and password. General Website Logging In Instructions: Website Basics
Create a page 1. Once signed in, click Create Page in the top right hand corner of the screen. 2. The page should change in appearance and you should then be able to add text, images, tables and so on. 3. Once you are finished, click Save in the top right hand corner. 4. If you’re finished editing the site, click ‘Sign Out’.
Edit a page 1. Once signed in, click on the page you want to edit and click Edit Page in the top right hand corner of the screen. 2. The page should change in appearance and you should then be able to add, edit or delete text, images, tables and so on. 3. Once you are finished, click Save in the top right hand corner. 4. If you’re finished editing the site, click ‘Sign Out’.
Create a News Story 1. Once signed in, click on the ‘News’ link in the left-hand sidebar and click New Post in the window that appears. 2. The page should change in appearance and you should then be able to add, edit or delete text, images, tables and so on. Make sure you give the post a title. 3. Once you are finished, click Save in the top right hand corner. 4. You can check the News page or the Home page to confirm your post has been added. 5. If you’re finished editing the site, click ‘Sign Out’.
Insert a picture from (a) file and from (b) the web (a) From File: 1. Once signed in to the web site and in the edit view of the page you are adding the image to, click on the Insert menu in the top left-hand corner of the page and click Image. 2. Select Uploaded Images and then click Browse, select the image you want to upload. 3. Click Add Image 4. Once you are finished, click Save in the top right hand corner. 5. If you’re finished editing the site, click ‘Sign Out’. (b) From the web: 1. Right-click any image on the web, including from the Photo section, and copy the web address. 2. Once signed in to the web site and in the edit view of the page you are adding the image to, click on the Insert menu in the top left-hand corner of the page and click Image. 3. Paste the copied web address into the web address field and a preview should appear – click Add Image. 4. Once you are finished, click Save in the top right hand corner. 5. If you’re finished editing the site, click ‘Sign Out’. Photos Visit the Home page of the website Under 'Community' in the left-hand sidebar, click on the link to Photos (http://picasaweb.google.com/Kelburne) In the top right corner of the window that appears, click ‘Sign In’ Enter: - Username: ask admin - Password: ask admin Click on the 'upload' button in the centre-top of the screen. Once the new window appears, name your album or if you want to add photos to an existing album, click on that option. Select the photos to be uploaded by browsing your computer or drag them into the window (if you're using Google Chrome) and then click ‘OK' in the bottom right corner. NB If you have desktop Picasa or iPhoto the above process can be done much more simply and quickly (but would need a different explanation to the above!).
